After working overtime during the first world war with the motto 'war work first' the company expanded beyond its usual manufacture of industrial metal springs and clamps to more profitable finished products. The sprung bike saddle and watch carrier clips, the anglepoise mirror, the sculling exerciser, the lever letter clip and more famously the Anglepoise lamp were added to the factory catalogue from the 1920's onwards. The company archive reveals the pen clip to be older - around 1910. Today it is manufactured in Oxfordshire, where Terry, now part of a Swedish multinational company, has built a larger plant.
